Bing That Post

Deaf Video Podcast

The Problem
There are podcasts for almost everything—like jobs, money, and hobbies— led by people who aren't Deaf or HOH. But very few were led by Deaf or HOH people. Most existing shows are only on YouTube and they're inactive. Right now, there is no specific app or website built for a Deaf podcast.

My Vision
I am designing a Deaf podcast app and website. It would feature Deaf and HOH hosts talking about everyday life, careers, and pop culture, etc. To bring everyone together, the shows would include:

  • Sign Language (ASL) with voice audio.

  • Captions and written transcripts.

  • An experience made for both signing and hearing people.

The Story
This project started as a graduate thesis idea to pitch in the Fall of 2022, as one of my another graduate thesis, Deaf Communication Awareness with typography portraits and a deaf POV was selected.

it was rejected at the time. It had been sitting on the shelf until recently I am finally bringing it to life for my portfolio!
My goal is to create a special place for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (HOH) voices in the podcast world.

Process work, including UX UI design and publication design will be added soon,

Why Bing That Post Uses Orange, Red, and Dark Blue

Bing That Post uses orange, red, and dark blue to reflect the spirit, experiences, and diversity of the Deaf community.

Orange represents creativity, energy, enthusiasm, and warmth. In the Deaf community, there is a strong sense of expression and connection, and orange symbolizes how the community brings people together through shared experiences and vibrant communication.

Red is inspired by the recording microphone often shown when a podcast is live or actively recording. It represents visibility, urgency, and presence — signaling that voices are being shared and stories are being heard in real time.

Dark blue reflects the shared human experiences within the Deaf community beyond hearing loss. It represents intelligence and professionalism — signaling confidence, knowledge, and maturity — as well as depth and introspection, including thoughtfulness, wisdom, and reflection.

Meaning Behind the Bing That Post Typefaces

The three typefaces used in Bing That Post each carry their own meaning and purpose.

GoodDog New represents the variety of signing styles within conversations. Just as people have unique handwriting, individuals express sign language differently through movement, rhythm, and personal style.

Bungee is used as the loudest typeface to grab attention. The Deaf community is unapologetically expressive and not afraid to make noise — whether through calling out, tapping tables, or stomping feet — to communicate clearly and assert presence.

Together, the colors and typefaces reflect the energy, identity, and authenticity of the Deaf community while reinforcing Bing That Post’s bold, welcoming, and professional voice.
